Elisa Park Kim (PMP) has twenty years of experience working in health care, post-secondary and the entrepreneurial ecosystem leading innovation-based programs. Passionate about economic development, Elisa excels in building strategic partnerships across national and international organizations for the common goal of helping SME’s. At the University of Calgary, Elisa started the $100K TENET i2c competition and offered support in various aspects of venture development. Elisa serves on the board of European Canadian Centre for Innovation and Research, Integrated Rare Disease Centre, and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation’s Prairies Can Advisory Committee.
Dr. Steven Jones possesses over 20 years of experience of working with medical devices in R&D providing expertise in microbiology, biomaterials, and biocompatibility testing. He has previously led successful endeavors within the contract research organization environment and at the University of Calgary as a research associate working with clinically relevant bacterial biofilms. Currently, Steve serves in SAIT's advisory board for Medical Devices Reprocessing and Laboratory Tech Programs. He possesses a BSc. (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Wolverhampton, UK and a PhD in Biological Sciences specializing in medical microbiology from the University of Exeter, UK.
Morgan Abell is a public relations student with a background in journalism and photography. She has experience with content creation and social media. Additionally, she fosters strong communication skills learned locally as well as abroad through her studies. Morgan joined Biohubx to help position for growth as she continues to pursue a Bachelor of Communications at Mount Royal University.
Brennen French is a fourth year journalism student at Mount Royal University. He has joined Biohubx with skills in communications and media relations. He has experience in photo and video content creation and has published several articles. Brennen will be volunteering part time with Biohubx as he completes his final year at Mount Royal University over the 2025-2026 school year.
Kristina Rinker (Ph.D., P.Eng.) is board member of Biohubx and CSO of Syantra Inc., a Calgary-based precision medicine company with a blood test for breast cancer detection currently in clinical studies. Kristina is a biomedical engineering innovation professional focused on technology development, translation to implementation, mentoring and training, and entrepreneurial thinking. Additionally, Kristina is a professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Calgary.
Bob Shepherd is a board member of Biohubx and the president and CEO of Syantra Inc. Bob has over 25 years of experience in cell bioengineering research and development. He led laboratory efforts at the University of Calgary for the early development of Syantra DX. Bob has co-founded several companies to commercialize technologies and is a co-inventor on ten international patents. He has degrees in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from North Carolina State University and has completed the NxLevel Entrepreneurship Program. Previously, Bob was a Research Associate at the University of Calgary, Colorado State University and North Carolina State University.
Peter Calverley is a Biohubx board member and decisive business executive with a strong track record of driving operational and financial performance. He is skilled in executive/leadership coaching and providing value-added Board support. His performance excellence revolves around his ability to listen, engage and influence while zeroing in on unique business strategies to identify opportunities and execute insights.
